Getting started with watsonx Code Assistant for Z Code Explanation

Use watsonx Code Assistant for Z Code Explanation to increase developer productivity with AI-generated code explanations and comments.

Service This service is not available by default. An administrator must install this service on the IBM® Software Hub platform, and you must be given access to the service. To determine whether the service is installed, open the Services catalog and check whether the service is enabled.

watsonx Code Assistant for Z Code Explanation provides AI-generated code explanations to help increase developer productivity. Developers can save or insert these explanations as comments directly into the application code. Use watsonx Code Assistant for Z Code Explanation to:

  • Facilitate learning for developers unfamiliar with specific applications.
  • Bridge knowledge gaps, which frees up senior experts for advanced modernization tasks.
  • Accelerate development or modernization efforts.

Generating an API key

  1. Log in to IBM Software Hub. The user needs access to the deployment space.
  2. Change the experience to IBM watsonx Code Assistant.
    1. To switch between experiences, click the Switch locations icon in the toolbar.
  3. Generate your new API key.
    1. Click your profile icon in the top-right.
    2. Click Profile > Settings.
    3. Under API key, click Generate new key.
    4. Copy and save your API key.
      Important: Your API key cannot be recovered if lost.
