Prerequisites to migrating data (IBM Knowledge Catalog)

Before you migrate data from InfoSphere Information Server to Cloud Pak for Data, make sure that all prerequisites are met and that you completed all preparation tasks on either system.

Prerequisites

The following prerequisites must be met:

InfoSphere Information Server system
Cloud Pak for Data
  • Your system must be a new install of Cloud Pak for Data version 5.2.x. Migration to upgraded systems is not supported.
  • The default platform administrator (the admin or cpadmin user) must run the migration commands and should be added to the target catalog as a member with the Admin role.
  • If you plan to migrate data rules, you must enable data quality features to be able to work with the migrated rules. For more information, see Determining the optional features to enable.
  • For migration of users and user groups:

    If the InfoSphere Information Server system is configured to use an LDAP user registry, the system must be connected to the same LDAP server as the IBM® Software Hub system for Cloud Pak for Data.

    IBM Software Hub must be configured to use the embedded LDAP integration. For more information, see Configuring IBM Software Hub to use the embedded LDAP integration.

    If the InfoSphere Information Server system is set up with an internal user registry or a local operating-system user registry in the metadata repository, no further setup is required.
