Publishing Data Gate table metadata to IBM Knowledge Catalog

You can set up Data Gate so that the table and database metadata of an instance is automatically published to IBM Knowledge Catalog.

Data Gate can make the synchronized data and the source of this data discoverable in IBM Cloud Pak for Data. To this end, Data Gate offers an option that allows publishing metadata for all tables and data source connections that are known to Data Gate in IBM Knowledge Catalog, which is the enterprise data catalog on the Cloud Pak for Data platform. Included in the published metadata is information about relationships between source tables and target tables so that catalog users can easily find Db2 for z/OS data that was synchronized with Cloud Pak for Data.

In Data Gate, you can publish metadata to a local or to a remote IBM Knowledge Catalog. A local IBM Knowledge Catalog is a catalog that resides in the same Cloud Pak for Data instance as Data Gate. A remote IBM Knowledge Catalog is a catalog in a different Cloud Pak for Data instance. For more information, see Configuring Data Gate table metadata publishing to IBM Knowledge Catalog

If you configure the feature correctly, you can publish Data Gate table metadata by a one-click-action to IBM Knowledge Catalog. For more information, see Publishing Data Gate table metadata.
