Upgrading an instance to IBM Software Hub (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)

To upgrade an instance of IBM Cloud Pak® for Data Version 4.8 to IBM Software Hub Version 5.2, you must update the operators and operands (custom resources) that are associated with the instance.

Instance administrator An instance administrator can complete this task.

When do you need to complete this task?

Repeat as needed If you have multiple instances of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Version 4.8 on the cluster, repeat the appropriate tasks for each instance that you plan to upgrade to IBM Software Hub Version 5.2.

Before you begin

The following tasks must be completed before you upgrade an instance of IBM Cloud Pak for Data Version 4.8 to IBM Software Hub Version 5.2:
  1. Updating client workstations (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
  2. Collecting information required to upgrade to IBM Software Hub (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
  3. Preparing to run upgrade commands in a restricted network (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
    Note: This task is required only if you are running the upgrade in a restricted network.
  4. Preparing to run upgrades from a private container registry (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
    Note: This task is required only if you pull images from a private container registry.
  5. Installing or upgrading prerequisite software (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
  6. Upgrading shared cluster components (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
  7. Preparing to upgrade an instance to IBM Software Hub (Upgrading from Version 4.8 to Version 5.2)
