Planning for an environment with multiple IBM Cloud Paks

If you plan to install multiple IBM Cloud Paks on your cluster, ensure that you consider the requirements for each IBM Cloud Pak that you plan to install.

The IBM Cloud Paks documentation includes information on planning and preparing for an environment with multiple IBM Cloud Paks. For details, see: Planning a multi-IBM Cloud Pak environment.

As you plan your environment, you need to consider the following factors:
  • The hardware that you need for each IBM Cloud Pak that you plan to install. Your planning should include the number of master and worker nodes, and the allocation of vCPU, memory, and storage on each of the nodes in the cluster.
  • The storage that is supported by the IBM Cloud Pak that you plan to install.
  • The version of Red Hat® OpenShift® Container Platform that is supported by the IBM Cloud Pak that you plan to install.
  • The operator install mode that is supported for each IBM Cloud Pak that you plan to install.

IBM® Software Hub uses the ownNamespace install mode (InstallModeType). You cannot install IBM Software Hub on the same cluster as an IBM Cloud Pak that supports the AllNamespace install mode.

You should also review the licensing requirements and security recommendations for each IBM Cloud Pak.
