Connect an IBM® Notes® client to
an on-premises Sametime community to allow a cloud user to chat with both on-premises and cloud
users.
Before you begin
Install Notes with the
Sametime (integrated) component.
Procedure
- Disable automatic connections to the cloud community:
- If your account has
the user role, click .
- In the System Settings section
of the navigation pane, click IBM SmartCloud Notes.
- Click Account Settings.
- Click Instant Messaging.
- Click one of the following options:
- If you also want browser users to connect to an on-premises community, select Enable
an on-premises IBM Sametime community for SmartCloud Notes web users. For more
information, see Connecting browser clients to an on-premises Sametime community.
- If you don't want browser users to connect to an on-premises community, select
Disable instant messaging integration.
- Click Save.
- If you haven't already done so, set up the Notes client to connect to your on-premises
community:
- Click .
- Click Sametime.
- Click Server Communities.
- Click New Server Community.
- In the Server Community type field, select
Sametime.
- In the Server Community name field, enter a name for the on-premises
community.
- Enter the name and password that you use to log in to the community.
- Click the Server tab and enter the host name for the on-premises
community server and the port number, typically 1533.
