Mail onboarding roadmap

The Mail Onboarding Manager tool simplifies the onboarding process by automating many of the steps and doing them for you. Here is the roadmap of steps you will use to move mail files to the cloud and then provision users with their new cloud subscriptions. This process assumes you have set up your Connections Cloud account.

Before you begin

To ensure that the move from on-premises to the cloud goes smoothly, it is recommended that you give your users at least a 3-day notice that you will be moving their mail files.

About this task

This tool always opens on the dashboard, which shows your daily activity for Transfer Groups in progress and provides a high-level summary of all onboarding activity. The first time you open the tool, the dashboard is empty because you have not yet created any groups. As you step through the process, the tool identifies any issues for you, most of which you can resolve as you go.

Procedure

  1. Start on the Users page, and create Transfer Groups. You can do this simply by dragging names or by using the CSV (comma separated value) template and importing a CSV file. You can create as many groups as you need, and group them in a way that is meaningful to you so that they are easily identifiable.
  2. Continue to the Settings page. Here you create Transfer Group Settings that specify the setup options and subscriptions for the Transfer Groups you created. You can create as many Transfer Group Settings as you need.
  3. On the Staging page, schedule or begin transferring mail immediately. After the tool has transferred mail files, provisioning begins automatically. Provisioning occurs when actual subscriptions are assigned to users and the account is created in the cloud.
  4. Troubleshoot errors at any time by clicking the errors link to view resolution actions.
  5. Check the onboarding progress on the Dashboard. You can view the progress of each group and see an overall snapshot of your entire organization.
