Requirements
- You have installed IBM Spectrum LSF.
- The Process Manager Server and Client will be installed on a single UNIX host. This host acts as the central point of control for a cluster of LSF hosts that actually run the jobs.
- You are creating an LSF cluster composed of only UNIX hosts. There will be no Windows hosts in your cluster.
- Set up a shared file system for the hosts. The shared file system needs to be writable by root during the installation.
- Perform the installation as root. This includes the distribution installation as well as the host setup steps. The root account must be able to write into the file system mounted at LSF_TOP.
- libstdc++.so.6 is required to install Process Manager on Linux/UNIX. If the library is not on
your system, install the library that is appropriate for your system. For more information on
libstdc++, see https://gcc.gnu.org/onlinedocs/libstdc++/faq.html.
- RHEL: Install libstdc++ or compat-libstdc++ from RHEL Full DVD/ISO.
- SUSE 12: https://www.suse.com/products/server/technical-information/ , click "Packages sorted by name", then search "libstdc++6".
- SUSE 11: https://www.suse.com/products/sle11/server/technical-information/ , click "Packages sorted by name", then search "libstdc++6".
- Ubuntu: http://packages.ubuntu.com/trusty/devel/ , search "libstdc++6".
- Solaris: https://www.opencsw.org/package/libstdc++6/
- AIX: http://www.perzl.org/aix/index.php?n=Main.Gcc , search "libstdc++6".
- HP: http://hpux.connect.org.uk/hppd/hpux/Gnu/ , search text "libgcc".
- If your host is on the POWER architecture, libibmc++.so.1 is required to run Process Manager. Install the appropriate IBM XL C/C++ compiler for your system. For more information on the IBM XL C/C++ compiler, see http://www-03.ibm.com/software/products/en/ccompfami
- On Solaris 11, check that you have the following libraries installed. This is required to
display Flow Editor and Flow Manager Java graphical user interface through X-Windows.
libXext
libX11
libXtst
libXi
libXevie
libXss (package name is libxscrnsaver)
Memory and disk space requirements
-
Approximately 200 MB free disk space for each server binary type, and 100 MB for each client. To install Process Manager Server, Flow Manager, and Flow Editor, you need approximately 400 MB. Additionally, you will need 2 KB per job to handle jobs that run simultaneously
-
256 MB RAM for processing purposes
- LSF server host for installing Process Manager
-
Temporary space:
-
Windows: 140 MB free space on the system disk
-
UNIX/Linux: 140 MB free space on /tmp
-
Software requirements
J2RE (Java Runtime Environment), version 1.6 or higher
Installation account
-
- The user account used to install Process Manager is called the installation account, and must be a local administrator on all the hosts you are installing (a Windows domain administrator account is normally a local administrator on every host in the domain).
- The installation account must have the privilege to act as part of the operating system.
Process Manager Administrators
Process Manager administrators must have permission to modify all files
Process Manager Service Account
- The Process Manager service runs under a Process Manager service account. (This is similar to the Process Manager primary administrator account on UNIX.)
- The account name cannot include spaces. This account must have read and write permissions on the installation directory.
- Recommendation: Use the same account for both the LSF and Process Manager service accounts. The default is lsfadmin.
- You must create this account prior to installation if i does not already exist.
- Process Manager automatically assigns the following privileges to this account:
-
- Act as part of the operating system
- Debug programs
- Adjust memory quotas for a process
- Log on as a service
- Replace a process-level token
- Back up files and directories
- Restore files and directories
- Bypass traverse checking
-
