View proxy dependencies and triggering events within a flow

The Flow Definitions page shows flow definitions, proxy dependencies and events for a work item, and proxy events that trigger a flow.

Procedure

  1. Select the Workload tab.
  2. Select the Flow > Flow Definitions menu item.

The Flow Definitions page is displayed. Flow definitions are shown in a table.

  3. Navigate to the flow definition or group of flow definitions that you want to view.
    • To view the work items in a specific flow definition from the table in the Flow Definitions page, select the flow definition and click View Chart.
    • To view all of your job flow definitions (and the relationships between them) in a graphical format, click Map View.

To view the work items in a specific flow definition from the Map View page, right-click the flow definition and select Expand.

    • Flow definitions and work items are shown graphically. An event that triggers a flow is displayed to the left of the flow, with a dependency arrow drawn between them.
    • A proxy dependency on a work item within a flow is represented by a curved, dotted arrow that runs from the flow that contains the actual work item to another flow that contains the proxy to the work item.
    • A proxy event that triggers a flow is displayed to the left of the flow, with a dependency arrow drawn between them. Flows can have more than one dependency.
    • When a flow has a dependency on another flow whose definition does not yet exist, the Map view looks like this example, where the flow2 flow is submitted, but the flow1 flow is not:

The flow1 icon has an exclamation mark (!).

  4. To show the proxy dependencies and events for a flow definition or work item, right-click on the item and select Show Proxy Dependents.

The Show Proxy Dependents dialog is displayed listing the Flow ID, Work Items, Owner, and Condition.
