Depending on your fulfillment requirements, you can create different types of
distribution groups for the Inventory service and the Promising service. You can use the distribution groups to track your inventory
and to promise and fulfill orders.
Before you begin
Ensure that you are familiar with the distribution group concept. For more information, see
Distribution groups.
About this task
It is required that you create a distribution group to track your inventory. Then, you can create
a
Sourcing or
Procurement distribution group for
promising calculations or shipment transfers.
Note: You cannot modify the purpose of a distribution
group. If you want to modify the purpose, delete the distribution group and re-create it with the
correct purpose.
Procedure

Log in to Order Hub.
- On the Intelligent Promising tab, click Create
distribution group.
- In the New distribution group window, enter the following
details:
- Name
- The name of the distribution group.
- ID
- The identifier for the distribution group.
- Purpose
- Select one of the following purposes for the distribution group:
- Sourcing - For promising rules and all functions that includes estimated
delivery date (EDD) and checkout lookups.
- Inventory - For network inventory lookup and functions that are provided
by the Inventory service.
- Procurement - For a distribution group that participates in node-to-node
transfers.

Select the Enable unassigned demand considerations to enable considering
unassigned demands in the distribution group.

Click Add nodes to add nodes to the distribution group. Depending on
your order fulfillment requirements, you can prioritize the nodes.

Click Create to create the distribution group.
