Creating and updating segmentation allocation rules

The segmentation allocation rules define the allocation strategy that sets the percentage allocation for each segment. Creating the segmentation rules automatically redistributes inventory as per the segments and priorities. For example, you can allocate a percentage of your inventory to a vendor to enhance the sale and a smaller percentage to a web channel. You can also rank the segments to assign a high priority to a vendor, for example, to receive inventory immediately when new stock arrives.

Before you begin

If there are segments for the undefined items in the allocation rule, no reallocation happens for those segments and the segments are allocated with zero quantity. The undefined segments are then allocated to unsegmented inventory.
Note: You must enable the segment allocation to create or update the segmentation rules. For more information, see Enabling inventory segmentation allocation and rebalancing frequency and Tenant settings.

Procedure

  1. Log in to Order Hub.
  2. Click Inventory (Inventory icon) and select Segmentation rules.
  3. Enter the segment rule Name and select the Rank of the segmentation rule. The segment rank automates the priority of the rule.
Note: The associated rank rule allows the system to pick the matching rule with the highest rank. The highest rank corresponds to a lower number. If the rules with rank 1 and rank 3 both match for a given supply, then the rule with rank 1 is used.
  4. Enter the Description of the segment.
  5. Select Condition type from drop down.
    1. Select Node or Item ID or SKU.
    2. Select Equals.
    3. Click Select to select nodes or item IDs.
Note: You can add a maximum of two conditions.
  6. Click Create allocation to define the allocation percentage and minimum quantity.
    1. Select Segment type and Segment name from the drop down.
    2. Enter the Percentage of allocation.
      • For every percentage allocation, you need to specify the order of allocation starting with the highest priority segment to lowest priority segment.
      • By default, the percentage allocation is rounded down.
    3. Enable the No minimum quantity and enter the amount in Each field.
      Note:
      • By default, the No minimum quantity is disabled. If the minimum quantity is specified, then this condition is matched prior to percentage for that rank. For example, assume no demand in the following scenario:
        • Supply = 100
        • Segment = A and Segment Type = A with 10% allocation with a minimum quantity of 50 and priority of 1

This segment now has 50 supply allocated to it.

      • In case you enter details in Each field, No minimum quantity gets enabled. The percentage value can be set to rounded up or down.
  7. Select either Unrestricted or Specific dates in Rule Schedule.
    • Select Unrestricted to enable the rule by default.
    • Select Specific dates to enable the segment rule in the selected date range.
  8. Click Create to create a segmentation rule.

Results

After creating a segmentation rule, you can edit or delete the rule.
  1. Click the Edit (Edit icon) icon to edit the details. Follow Step 3 through Step 7 to edit the details. Click Save to save the changes.
  2. Click the Delete (Delete icon) icon to remove the selected segmentation rule.
Note: Deleting a rule does not delete the segment. For deleting a segment, see Configuring segments.
