Carbon emissions report
Sterling Intelligent Promising carbon emissions report feature is available for sustainability technology preview on Benefits report.
Today's organizations are understanding the importance of sustainability in their supply chain and fulfillment operations. To achieve sustainable goals, the organizations continuously need to monitor and maintain carbon emissions within a certain limit.
Sterling Intelligent Promising carbon savings benefits report provides visibility to the Scope 3 emissions from order fulfillment processes. The Benefits report carbon emissions report displays the carbon emission calculations and its impact on your sustainable business outcomes with a graphical representation on the dashboard. You can see the comparative graph of total carbon emission with and without eco-friendly optimization strategy. The key performance indicators (KPIs) of the carbon emissions dashboard are environmental savings such as tons of CO2 reduced, number of trees saved, and number of trips saved from New York to Paris in terms of carbon emissions.
Sterling Intelligent Promising carbon emissions report provides calculations of carbon emission benefits based on distance-based emissions estimation method. The calculations take place as follows.
Wherein:
- Sterling Intelligent Promising calculates Mass of shipment1 based on the dimensions of the items in the package.
- Sterling Intelligent Promising calculates Distance traveled2 as distance between the origin and destination address for the package.
-
Emission factor3 varies based on the distance traveled and mode of transport.
If distance traveled by the package is within 1000 miles, a ground transport mode is likely to be used and an emission factor of 0.204 kg-CO2/ton-km or equivalent kg- CO2/lbs-miles conversion factor is used.
If distance traversed by the package is greater than 1000 miles, an air transport mode is likely to be used and an emission factor of 1.055 kg-CO2/ton-km or equivalent kg- CO2/lbs-miles is used.
Note: The mentioned emission factors are according to the Greenhouse Gas Protocol.
