Optimization explainer

The Optimization explainer shows all the orders that are optimized based on your business objective configurations. You can apply basic or advanced filters to orders. You can select an order to view a more detailed summary that includes shipment details.

You can search for an order to view how it is optimized according to your business objective configurations. For more information, see Using the optimization explainer.

Note: As a Sterling Intelligent Promising Standard and Sterling Intelligent Promising Premium customer, you can benefit from cost-based optimization for prepurchase orders. When you apply the Cart/draft filter, you are provided with a list of orders for prepurchase order scenarios. For more information about cost-based optimization, see Scenario: Calculate prepurchase shipment assignments and minimize the cost-to-serve.

Rejected and excluded orders

Some orders in the list might be labeled as Rejected or Excluded.

If an order ID is labeled as Rejected, shipping was not optimized for the order lines within the order because all of the potential ship nodes were rejected. Ship nodes are rejected for optimization if they meet at least one of the following criteria.
  • Carriers were not configured at the ship node.
  • Carriers were configured, but did not meet the weight limit criteria of the SKU.
  • Carriers were configured, but did not ship to the address requested in the order.
  • The ship node was not enabled for fulfillment.
  • A timeout occurred during optimization.

Click the order ID to find out why the ship nodes were rejected.

If an order ID is labeled as Excluded, the order was excluded from optimization because one or more of the order lines met at least one of the following criteria.
  • The order line is for a delivery service, not a product.
  • The delivery method for the order line is same day delivery, so the ship node is preselected.
  • The delivery method for the order line is pickup.
  • The order line is being fulfilled entirely by a vendor node.
