Managing carrier services
Carrier services are shipping services that are applied by carrier services. You can select specific carrier services during checkout calculations. Also, you can disable or deactivate a carrier service for a node.
Selecting carrier services
You can select one or more preferred carrier services during delivery date estimation or checkout calculations by using Estimated Delivery Date and Calculate Checkout Assignments APIs. If you choose to select the carrier services during checkout calculations, you can do it at cart or cart-line level or at both levels. Also, the carrier services that you select must be a subset of specified shipping group in the API request body.
Disabling carrier services
You can temporarily disable a carrier service within a shipping group on a specific ship node. For example, in a snow-storm in the region for a ship node, you can disable the Expedited carrier service (for Carrier A, in the example) at the node. When a carrier service is disabled for a shipping group on a node, the service is not considered for shipping.
For more information about disabling carrier services for a node, see Activating and deactivating shipping groups at a node.
Deactivating a carrier service for a node
You can temporarily deactivate a carrier service for a node. In a snow-storm in the region for a ship node, you can deactivate the Expedited carrier service (for Carrier A, in the example) at the node. When a carrier service is disabled for a shipping group on a node, the service is not considered for shipping.
For more information about disabling carrier services for a node, see Activating and deactivating shipping groups at a node. To deactivate a carrier service on a node for a specific time, see Deactivating a node for a specified period.
