Searching inventory without an order management system connection

If your tenant is not connected to an order management system, you can still search for inventory but you must enter exact search criteria.

If your tenant is connected to an order management system that includes all the API implementations required for the user interface, you do not have to enter exact criteria. For more information, see Searching inventory availability.

About this task

You must search by using the exact SKUs or Item IDs. When you submit a search, specify a value in all three fields; Item ID, Product class, and Unit of Measure.

For convenience, a tenant administrator can set a default Product class and Unit of Measure in Settings > Configuration. When set, the values are automatically populated for you on the Inventory search page.

Note: You cannot transfer inventory if your tenant is not connected to an order management system.

Procedure

Click the Inventory () from the menu to go to the Inventory search page.
Specify search criteria.
- Enter the exact Item ID or SKU that you want to view. You can separate multiple values by using a comma.
- Specify a Product class and Unit of measure.
- Select a node or distribution group. You must specify a location before you can click Search.
If Item ID, Product class, or Unit of measure are empty, the search returns no results.
Click Search.

Results

The Search results page displays a list of matching entries. You can perform various actions such as viewing the item or SKU details page, adjust safety stock, or set fulfillment options. Without a connection to the order management system, you cannot transfer inventory.
