Using the optimization explainer
When an order is sent to the Optimization service, many rules, configurations, constraints, and cost optimization goals are applied to determine the most optimal way to fulfill it. The Optimization service gives you insights into how your orders are optimized based on your business objectives.
Before you begin
- Ensure that you are familiar with the Optimization explainer. For more information, see Optimization explainer.
- To access the optimization explainer, ensure that you are assigned the following roles:
- A Business Analyst or Business Administrator role.

- The Fulfillment Manager role in Order Hub.
For more information about user roles in Order Hub, see Adding users.
After you are assigned the necessary roles in the Optimization service, you can access the optimization explainer.
- A Business Analyst or Business Administrator role.
- To display the Optimize node performance levers or to hide the Optimization explainer filters that use IBM Sterling Intelligent Promising data in the optimization explainer, from the menu, click Display settings. Then, in the Promise and fulfill section, slide the Show optimizing node performance related levers toggle or the Optimization explainer toggle to activate them. If you select to hide the Optimization explainer filters, the shipping groups, carrier service, and Item ID selectors are hidden in the Optimization explainer .
