Configuring the Capacity service
The Capacity service is used to define resource capacity across your fulfillment network and also to determine whether a location has sufficient capacity to fulfill an order. If capacity is defined for a node, you create capacity categories and workflows to describe the tasks and sequence of tasks that are required to fulfill an order.
Before you begin
Familiarize yourself with the Sterling Intelligent Promising Standard and Premium packages. For more information, see Sterling Intelligent Promising overview.
It is important to understand the following concepts.
- Capacity category
- The configurable units of work or tasks that are required to complete order fulfillment. For more information, see Capacity categories.
- Capacity workflows
- The sequence of tasks, much like an assembly line, where each step must be completed before the product is shipped. For more information, see Capacity workflow.
Procedure
-
Configure the capacity categories by using the Insert or update available capacity API.
Optional: You can also use this API to configure the capacity tagging.
- Configure the capacity workflows by using the Node capacity workflow API.
