Traces

Trace data provides in-depth processing information to help you focus on a particular area that you suspect is causing a problem. Trace data is more complex and detailed than message data.

By default, the trace log is set on to collect the minimum amount of information. The minimum level reduces the impact of capturing and recording data on the overall performance of IBM Verify Identity Governance. The higher the level of tracing, the greater the potential impact on server performance.

Identity Manager Server provides both Server trace and Applet trace.

You can configure the following items:
  • When to start and stop collecting data
  • The level of detailed data that is collected
  • The log file size

You can also use the runConfig configuration tool to change the level of the trace logging. For more information about the runConfig tool, see the installation and configuration guides on the IBM Verify Identity Governance documentation.
