You can view, add, or remove child roles,
which are roles that are members of another role. This relationship
is a parent-child relationship between an organizational role (a parent
role) and its child roles. A child role itself is an organizational
role.
Before you begin
Depending on how your system administrator customized your system, you might not
have access to this task. To obtain access to this task or to have someone complete it for you,
contact your system administrator.
About this task
When you add child roles to a parent role, ensure that there is not a separation of duty policy violation.
Also, you can Add Role as Child as well as Group Access.
To
manage child roles, complete these steps:
Procedure
- From the navigation tree, click Manage Roles. The Manage Roles
page is displayed.
- On the Manage Roles page, complete these steps:
- Click Refresh icon to load all roles.
- Type name or description of the role in the Search box.
- Click Filters icon, specify whether the search is done based on
Service name, Role type or Membership type, and then click Apply filters. A
list of roles that match the search criteria is displayed. If the list contains multiple pages, you
can either click the arrow to go the next page, or, type the number of the page that you want to
view and click Go.
- In the Roles list, click the kebab menu (three vertical dots) next to the role that you want
to modify, and then click Edit role to display the Role information page.
Or, you can click on selected role and click Edit icon.
- The Change Role wizard is displayed. Click on the Role Composition section in which Role
as well as Group Accesses table will be shown.
- In the Child role table, use the filter for Service Name or Role Type. In the child role
table, you can type name of role in search box as well.
- In the child access table, you can use the filter for Access Type. In the child access
table, you can type name of access in search box as well.
Results
The Child Roles table is displayed,
listing the child roles that match the search criteria.
If the table contains multiple pages, you can:
- Click the arrow to go to the next page.
- Type the number of the page that you want to view and click Go.
What to do next
You can add more child roles to the parent role, or you
can remove child roles from the role.
