Adding an Operator

Use this procedure when you need to set up a user to receive notifications.

To add an operator, you specify identifying properties on the Operator Properties dialog box.

To add an Operator to the system, complete the following steps.

  1. From the Start menu, select Programs > Gentran Server > Gentran Server Configuration.
  2. Select the Audit/Notification tab and click Operators.
  3. Select File > New Operator.
  4. Type the necessary information in the appropriate fields:
    • NT User ID
      Note: If your database is case sensitive, be sure to enter the User ID in the same case as for the Windows User ID. Otherwise, operators will not be able to view all notifications generated to them.
    • Name
    • E-mail Address
    • Numeric Pager (Phone Number)
    • Alpha Numeric Pager (E-mail Address)
  5. Click the appropriate Test button for any notification you want to test.

    The system sends a test notification to the new operator.

  6. Click OK.

    The system adds the operator to the list and closes the dialog box.
