Serviceability in IBM Storage Fusion HCI System
The serviceability of IBM Storage Fusion includes Call Home client, event manager, and log collector. They gather event logs to track down problematic events, help troubleshooting issues, and update relevant information in the support ticket automatically.
Call Home
The Call Home feature alerts you and IBM Support about hardware failures and potentially serious configuration or environmental events. It constantly monitors the health and availability of your storage so that you can address issues before they impact your business.
You can enable this feature to receive requests from any IBM Storage Fusion source. For more information about benefits and how to enable, see Benefits of enabling call home and Enabling IBM Call Home for IBM Storage Fusion HCI System.
For more information about how to open a support ticket, see Support ticket.
Event manager
The event manager contains the logic for servicing the basic event handling. Event Manager does basic checks for duplicate events and forwards them to Call Home Client. The expectation is that Call Home Client determines whether an event must be ignored or must open a Salesforce ticket.
You can work with the event manager from both IBM Storage Fusion user interface and OpenShift® user interface:
For more information about how to filter events, see Analyzing events in IBM Storage Fusion HCI System.
Log collector
The log collector collects and returns appliance logs dynamically at run time. You can configure and manage collection sets for the log collector by using both user interface and APIs. A list of all the appliance logs and collection sets that can be returned are maintained in related config maps.
