Network cable and transceiver options
This topic has general network cable requirements.
Note: IBM Storage Fusion HCI System does not include any cables or
transceivers for connecting the system to external switches. If you need cables and transceivers for
external connections, then explicitly add them to an order.
- Network cable requirements
- Connect port 31 or both ports 31 and 32 of both IBM Storage Fusion HCI System high-speed switches to the data center
switches. The supported speeds are 1, 10, 25, 40, and 100 GbE. The ports on the high-speed switches
are 100 GbE QSFP28 ports. You can use a splitter (breakout or fan-out) cable or an adapter to
connect the high-speed switches of IBM Storage Fusion HCI System to
the data center switches.
Purchase the needed DAC/AOC/QSFP and fibre cables from IBM or anther supplier depending on your needs. Discuss with your network administrators or consult an IBM Support representative before you purchase the cables (minimum of 2). If you plan to use both 31 and 32 ports, then you must purchase four cables.
