Enabling IBM Call Home for IBM Storage Fusion HCI System

Steps to enable and disable Call Home from the IBM Storage Fusion HCI user interface. In addition, you can edit Call Home configuration details.

Before you begin

Ensure that the Firewall sites must be configured for Call Home.

About this task

If you enable Call Home, the system automatically creates a ticket whenever a critical problem occurs. It helps the service representative to debug the issues.

Procedure

  1. From the IBM Storage Fusion menu, click Settings > Call Home.
  2. Click Enable.
    The Enable Call Home page gets displayed.
  3. Select from the following options to specify how you want to report problems to IBM Support:
    Full service
    Collects troubleshooting information and automatically opens a service request. The request collects and uploads all required data.
    Open support tickets only
    Collects troubleshooting information and automatically opens a service request, however, does not collect and upload log files.
  4. Go through the privacy policy and if you agree to the terms and conditions, click I agree to IBM privacy policy.
  5. In the Contact information tab, enter the following information:
    Note: Enter information for IBM Support to contact your company when a problem is reported.
    • Company name
    • Customer ID (ICN)
    • Primary contact name
    • Primary email address
    • Primary telephone number
  6. In the System information tab, enter the following information:
    If service is needed, Provide the information for IBM Support to locate your system physical location.
    • Street address
    • City
    • Postal code
    • State or province
    • Country or region
  7. Click Save.
    After the Call Home is enabled, a summary page gets displayed with the details.
  8. Click Verify connection to test the Call Home post enablement.
    It also gets triggered automatically when Call Home is enabled.
  9. To disable or update details, click the Edit icon.
    • Edit details
      Make changes to the details and click Save. A success confirmation message gets displayed.
    • Disable Call Home
      Click Disable to disable the Call Home. The Disable Call Home window opens and click Disable. If you want to save your details before disabling the Call Home, select Remember Call Home set-up information.
