Planning and prerequisites

Planning and prerequisites before you work with Regional DR.

  • IBM Storage Fusion HCI System 2.7.1 or higher.
  • Both sites have the same level of supported OpenShift® Container Platform.
  • The OpenShift Container Platform cluster must be healthy.
  • You must have at least one Active file management (AFM) in both primary and secondary Regional DR sites. If you have a single rack without Active file management (AFM), then do the following steps:
    1. Order Active file management (AFM) for Regional DR to upgrade.

The number of Active file management (AFM) nodes depends on your requirements to protect the workload that runs on your current deployed rack.

    2. The AFM must be in a healthy state for the enrollment, failover, and failback to work.
    3. Scale out the deployed rack to include Active file management (AFM) nodes, and then configure Regional DR.
    4. The newly ordered rack must have the same configuration as the already deployed rack.
For the procedure to add AFM nodes, see Configuring nodes for management. From the IBM Storage Scale, verify whether the AFM node is a part of the scale cluster or part of the filesystem.
  • From the IBM Storage Fusion user interface, check whether the IBM Storage Scale 5.2.0 is installed and it is in healthy state. Also, check the health status of the storage cluster.
  • In disaster recovery, two clusters must be connected to failover and failback applications. If the cluster recovers after the expiry of the client cert, the connection must be cleaned and setup to rejoin the recovered cluster. For the procedure to rejoin, see Reconnecting OpenShift Container Platform cluster.
