Disconnecting and connecting power cords
Steps to disconnect and connect existing power cords to the server.
Before you begin
- Prerequisites for removing the power supply unit

- The server is shipped with two power supply by default. In this case, the power supply is hot pluggable and redundant.
- Ensure that you power off the server and disconnect all the power cords and network cables before you remove the power supply unit.
- Ensure that you put the node into maintenance mode. For more about node maintenance, see Administering the node.
- Ensure that you install an additional hot-swap power supply to support redundancy.
- Ensure that you wear an ESD wrist strap when you remove the power supply unit.
- Ensure that you handle the component carefully and include more than one qualified person to perform the task if the component weight is more than 18 kg (40 lb).

- The server is shipped with only one power supply by default. In this case, the power supply is non-hot swap.
- Ensure that you power off the server and disconnect all the power cords and network cables before you replace the power supply unit.
- Ensure that you put the node into maintenance mode. For more about node maintenance, see Administering the node.
- Ensure that you install an additional hot-swap power supply to support redundancy.
- Ensure that you wear an ESD wrist strap when you replace the power supply unit.
