SD-WAN Aruba EdgeConnect Collector Deployment and Configuration Guide
This document describes the steps to deploy and configure the SD-WAN Aruba EdgeConnect collector.
Please do not run sevone-cli command from a subdirectory under /opt/SevOne/upgrade and /var/log/pods. It can be run from any directory except for from subdirectories under /opt/SevOne/upgrade and /var/log/pods.
Please use support user for NMS version 7.0.0 and above.
However, for NMS versions prior to version 7.0.0, please use root user instead of support user.
Prerequisites
- Aruba EdgeConnect integration in SevOne NMS supports standard basic authentication using the Aruba Orchestrator URL, username, and password.
- SNMP v2 or SNMP v3 details for the edge devices, based on device compatibility.
Device Onboarding
When onboarding Aruba EdgeConnect devices in SevOne NMS, you only need to add a single SD-WAN integration device (the Aruba EdgeConnect Orchestrator) with the appropriate orchestrator credentials. Once the integration device is added and saved, SevOne NMS automatically discovers all edge devices managed by that integration. There is no need to manually add each edge device.
If the edge devices already exist in SevOne NMS with SNMP-only monitoring and valid IP addresses, adding the SD-WAN integration device with both SNMP and SD-WAN plugins will automatically associate the integration with the existing devices. The SD-WAN metadata will then populate alongside the existing SNMP data, without creating duplicates.
To onboard Aruba EdgeConnect devices in SevOne NMS, execute the following steps.
- Using a web browser, navigate to the SevOne NMS appliance URL, log in with your credentials, then go to the Devices menu via the navigation bar, select Device Manager, and click Add Device to create a new device.
- On the New Device page, add the following details.

- In the Name field, enter the device name.
- In the Alternate Name field, enter an alternate device name. You can search for a device by its alternate name.
- In the Description field, enter the device description. You can use this to provide additional information about the function, location, or any other pertinent information about the device.
- In the IP Address field, enter the device IP address.
- By default, the plugin is set to SNMP. Click the plugin drop-down and select SDWAN.
- Select the Enable SDWAN API Integration checkbox.

- Click the Vendor drop-down and select the Aruba EdgeConnect option.
- In the Orchestrator URL field, enter the URL for the SDWAN vendor, Aruba EdgeConnect.
- In the Username field, enter the username for the SDWAN vendor, Aruba EdgeConnect.
- In the Password field, enter the password for the SDWAN vendor, Aruba EdgeConnect.
- Enable field Auto-discover and monitor associated Edges - Use SNMP Plugin to automatically discover and monitor Aruba EdgeConnect devices.
- Select the Enable SDWAN API Integration checkbox.
- Click Save to save the current changes as a New Device.
- Once the SDWAN plugin is configured, from the plugin drop-down, select SNMP.

- Ensure that the field SNMP Capable checkbox is selected to enable the discovery of SNMP object types and to poll SNMP data on the device.
- In the Version field and select the version. For example, select 3 from the available options in the drop-down list.
- Enter Username and Password for the Aruba EdgeConnect device.
Note: Ensure that the same SNMP credentials are configured on all Aruba EdgeConnect devices.
- Enter all other inputs and click Save to save the current changes as a New Device. This device is then queued for discovery.
- Again, click the Devices menu and select Discovery Manager.
- After the discovery process is completed, Aruba EdgeConnect devices will be visible on the Device Manager screen.

Aruba EdgeConnect Flows in SevOne NMS
Flow Interface Manager
To check the flows received on SevOne NMS, from the navigation bar, click the Administration menu, select Flow Configuration, and then select Flow Interface Manager.

Support Long Flows in SevOne NMS
Sometimes, the flows are dropped when Aruba EdgeConnect devices send flows with a longer duration than what is configured. To allow long flows, from the navigation bar, click the Administration menu and select Cluster Manager and then select Cluster Settings. Click the FlowFalcon subtab and uncheck Drop Long Flows option.

Solution Verification & Customization
- Enter the URL for the SevOne NMS appliance into your web browser to display the Login page.
- Enter the credentials and click Login. For example, Username: admin and Password: SevOne
- To check device groups imported, click the Devices menu and select Grouping, then Device Groups. Please refer to Device Groups for details.

- To check object types, click the Administration menu and select Monitoring Configuration, then Object Types. Please refer to Object Types for details.

- To access the SDWAN objects for Aruba EdgeConnect collector, navigate to Administration and click Monitoring Configuration and select Object Types. Apply the SDWAN filter to display the CPU and Memory object types for Aruba EdgeConnect collector, along with their respective indicator types.

Aruba Edge Device with CPU and Memory Data Extraction
In Aruba, CPU and memory statistics are collected directly from the edge devices using the following approach.
- Direct Connection to Edge Devices - The data collection process involves establishing a direct connection to each edge device using its IP address. These edge devices are typically managed under an Aruba Orchestrator.
- API-Based Data Collection
Once connected, the following Aruba system APIs are used to extract performance data.
- GET / rest / JSON / cpustat retrieves current CPU usage statistics.
- GET / rest / JSON / memory retrieves current memory usage statistics.
- Authentication Workflow
- To access the above APIs, a login operation must be performed for each edge device.
- After the data collection is complete, a logout request is required to properly terminate the session.
- The login credentials that are used are the same as those of the Aruba Orchestrator. Therefore, these credentials must be securely maintained and consistently used across all edge devices.
- Permission Requirements
- The credentials being used must have sufficient privileges to access the /cpustat and /memory APIs.
- If the credentials do not have the appropriate role or permission, the API calls will fail with HTTP 403 or similar authorization errors.
- Also, since multiple devices are accessed in parallel, ensure the system performing the extraction can handle concurrent API sessions and logout operations efficiently.
Aruba EdgeConnect OOTB Reports in SevOne Data Insight
- Log in to your SevOne Data Insight by navigating to the appropriate URL in your web browser. Enter your credentials on the login page and click Login.
- Click on Reports to view the Report Manager page, click SevOne Folders. Under SevOne Folders, select Aruba EdgeConnect folder from the SD-WAN drop-down list. Select the Aruba SDWAN Report displayed. You can either click on the Run button or click on the report link directly to view detailed OOTB reports.
Note: HPE Aruba SDWAN Report report is imported. -
Click on Devices to view the Device Manager page, then select the relevant datasource from the Datasource drop-down list to view the corresponding devices and their details.
