SDN Plugin

Attention: for new-installs only,
Please DO NOT install SevOne NMS 7.2.0 if you want SDN plugin (Cisco ACI Monitoring).

The SDN plugin allows you to collect data and monitors Cisco ACI-based software-defined networks (SDNs).

  1. To access the Device Manager from the navigation bar, click the Devices menu and select Device Manager.
  2. Either add a device with the SDN plugin or edit an existing device to enable the SDN plugin.
  3. Click the plugin drop-down. By default, it is set to SNMP. Select SDN.
  4. Select Enable Cisco APIC Integration check box.

  5. Select MSO Enabled check box to enable the multi-site configuration. When enabled, devices created via this integration will be auto-prefixed with its respective site name. If disabled, you may select Prefix all devices created check box below to allow user to enter the device prefix. In Device Prefix field, specify a prefix string that will be applied to the devices created by SDN Plugin.
  6. In the APIC URL field, enter the Cisco APIC URL.
  7. In the Username field, enter the username of the SDN.
  8. In the Password field, enter the password of the SDN.
  9. For Additional Device Types, select check box External Switch and/or Hypervisor & VM.
  10. Click Save As New to save the current changes as a New Device, or click Save to confirm the changes in the Edit Device page.
  11. When the desired changes have been saved, click the Cancel button to return to the Device Manager page.

Important: Once a new SevOne NMS cluster is ready, allow a wait time of ~30 - 45 minutes before adding a new SDN plugin enabled device.
Important: Once the device is created, collection of SDN resources starts on SevOne NMS.
It may take ~15 - 20 minutes for collection data to appear.
