Topology Widget
The Topology widget can visualize device physical connections and logical relationships derived from various protocols. Perform the steps below to configure settings for the Topology widget.
Data
The Data tab enables you to select the resources for which you want to view the topology.
Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Data tab.
- For Datasource and Resource Type settings, please refer to section Select Widget Resources in section Create.
- Enable Use Lat/Long Metadata to allow user to choose a metadata namespace. This option
enables using metadata in SevOne NMS to automatically place devices on the map at the coordinates
found in the metadata value. Once the user specifies a Namespace and Attribute, it
checks the devices.
- if all the selected devices have latitude / longitude information set, it will by default display the devices in Map mode and will allow user to toggle to Canvas mode.
- if some of the selected devices have latitude / longitude information set, it will by default display the devices in Canvas mode but will allow user to toggle to Map mode
- if none of the selected devices have latitude / longitude information set,
it will by default display in Canvas mode and you will not have the capability to toggle
between Map and Canvas modes.Note: In Canvas mode, Options drop-down will be available to choose the LAYOUT if Charts > Visualization > Topology visualization > Show topology options check box is selected.
- For Number of Hops, enter the number of hops to graph.
- Click Run to execute the Topology configuration and generate a report.Note: Run button is only available when one or more fields are changed in the Data tab.Note: Replace Untitled Report with a report name. For example, Topology Report.
Replace Untitled Section and provide a name to it. For example, Topology.
Example:
Lat/Long Metadata disabled,Lat/Long Metadata enabled,
Important: Example: Customize Layout
After choosing Focal Device and Number of Hops, click Run.
Note: Options drop-down is only available if Charts > visualization > Topology visualization > Show topology options check box is selected.
The drop-down allows you to choose the LAYOUT from the following options:- Organic
- Standard (default)
- Structural
- Lens
- Sequential
- Tweak
Topology has two mouse modes - hand mode and pointer mode . To toggle between mouse modes, click on the icon.
To customize the layout, you must be in Data tab.
Click on to change it to . Move the nodes around to customize the layout.
Important: Predefined layouts are available from Charts, Topology visualization, under General > Layout drop-down.
Filters
The Filters tab enables you to apply filters to display results.
Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Filters tab.
- Click the Attribute drop-down to filter output by Device Group or Device Type or Link Type.
- Click the Operator drop-down to choose the relational operator. For example, Equals.
- For attribute Device Group, enter the value in Value field.
- For attribute Link Type, click Link Types drop-down to select one or more link types. For example, Logical, Session, Physical.
- Click Add to add the new filter. The filters you add appear under the Add/Remove buttons.
- To remove any filter(s) from the list, select the check box for filter(s) you would like to remove and click Remove.
Linking
The Linking tab enables you to select a data element and link it to a related report or report template. Perform the following steps to add, delete, and edit links.
Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Linking tab.
- Include report links allows report consumers to click on a data element such as, device name, and link it to the related report. Enable to include the report link that you configure. If you want to prevent the report link from being included, disable it. Continue with the steps below to configure report link(s).
- By default, Report Link <#> is enabled.Note: If you wish to exclude the report link, disable Report Link <#>.
- Use the Clicking on drop-down to select a data item that you want to link with the report or report template. When you select a data item for a report link, that data item is no longer listed as an option for other report links as it has already been used. You can apply multiple reports/report templates to the selected data item. For example, Device Name or Object Name.
- Click the Links to report drop-down and select one or more reports or report templates to display when you click on the data item that you specified in the previous step.
- To remove the report link, click .
- To create additional report link(s), click .
Charts
The Charts tab enables you to define how you want to display the report data.
Visualizations
The charts provide Topology visualization only.
Topology
The Topology visualization displays the selected focal device in the network based on the layout selected. Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for the Topology visualization.
- Select the Topology visualization by clicking .
- TOPOLOGY VISUALIZATION - Enables you to select the layout to display the network topology.
- Click the Layout drop-down and select one of the following layout options to display the network topology.
- Select the Show topology options check box to display the layout options when you are in Canvas mode.
- Select the Show filter selector check box to display the output based on the filter added
in the Filters tab.
Note: Icons
- allows you to navigate the topology in up, down, left, and right directions.
- for panning the canvas around. And, allows you to move the nodes around.
- allows you to zoom in and out of the topology.- Standard

- In field Tile Server URL, if you want a map-specific tile server, enter your tile server URL. The client browser must have an internet connection for this to work. Please note the tile server must work with Leaflet. For additional details, please refer to https://leafletjs.com/reference-1.9.3.html#tilelayer.
Table
The Table visualization displays the data as a table. Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for the Table visualization.
- Select the Table visualization by clicking .
- TABLE TITLE
- Enable Show title to enter the title name in the text field provided and display it in report. Else, disable it.
- Enable Show subtitle to enter the sub-title name in the text field provided and display it in the report. Else, disable it.
- TABLE VISUALIZATIONS
- Select Allow column reordering check box to allow the columns that display in the report to be reordered.
- Select Allow showing/hiding columns check box to allow columns in the report to be hidden and unhidden.
- Select Wrap cell content check box to wrap long text in a data row so that all text displays. Disable it to display as much text as fits into the cell with ellipses to indicate there is more text.
- By enabling Show search bar, the search capability is available to perform a search in the table. Disable it if you do not want the search capability. If Show search bar is enabled, you may click to allow Search by column.
- COLUMN SELECTION
- Select the check boxes to display the selected fields as data columns in the table. The names in
the second column are the names for the columns that appear in the report. You may modify the names
