Deployment Recommendation

A single OVA image size (of 8 vCPU cores / 32 GB RAM / 250 GB HDD) is used for all production deployments where the environments are maintained for a long period of time or upgraded.

Note: Active users are individuals actually logged in to Data Insight. Concurrent Users are users currently running reports.
#Concurrent Users # Active Users # Production Nodes
up to 80 800 1 Tested & Supported
up to 160 1600 2 or more Supported
up to 250 2500 3 or more Tested & Supported
(Tested with up to 400 concurrent users)
Note: These numbers may vary based on your environment. You can always add more nodes to suit your needs.
Warning: SevOne Data Insight depends on SevOne NMS to generate the reports. It is very important that resource names in SevOne NMS that are being used by SevOne Data Insight are NOT changed. Changing the resource names will break the reports that are dependent on them. Please refer to Known Issues section below related to migration from Id to Name-based resources in SevOne Data Insight.
Important: SevOne Data Insight deployed on IPv4 networks is compatible with SevOne NMS clusters running on Native IPv6 clusters.
Important: SevOne Data Insight does not support IPv6 or IPv6 dual stack environments.
Note: RADIUS is currently not supported due to REST API limitations.
Note: As of SevOne Data Insight 3.14, dex is deprecated from the Helm chart and will be completely removed from the future release.

Known Issues

This section lists issues that SevOne is aware of in the Data Insight 6.8.0 release. Most of these issues were discovered during quality assurance testing and are published here to provide you with information that may be relevant when you plan your update. This list does not include feature requests or low impact issues that do not affect functionality. If you have questions, comments, or concerns, please contact us.

Note: FYI
Due to the migration from Id to Name-based resources, if the user changes the device name in SevOne NMS, any report that had variables that were statically configure with that device name will not work. The same is true for objects that change the name as well.
  • If a SevOne Data Insight 2.2.x report is bookmarked on your browser, you will need to re-select the report variable selections and update the bookmark. Otherwise, it will not work with SevOne Data Insight 3.0 or higher.
  • Flow Widget: SevOne NMS requestd may take longer than expected to complete the report. Due to this, it is possible that the report may timeout after 15 minutes.
Important: This happens when a lot of resources are selected for example, All Device Groups, aggregation is set to be very granular, and greater than a month's worth of data (4 weeks+) is being requested.
  • Report Linking only applies to report variables of the same type. For example, clicking on a device will only send a Device to device report variables. However, clicking on a Device will not affect a Flow Interface report variable.
  • Administer > Teams
    • When a user is added to a new team, you need to logout and login for the change to take effect.
    • For team membership, even if multiple datasources are added to a team, only users with the proper roleID of the authorization source will be available to the team. Teams cannot have members defined in multiple datasources.
Key Known Issues
SDI-13853 Alert Details Widget / Alert Summary Widget: When no resources are selected and from Linking tab, you have selected values for Clicking on report linking and have added report variable. Once the report variable has been applied and you click on linking value, widget returns an error.Workaround: When creating the Alert Details / Alert Summary widget, select the required resources.
SDI-13909 Performance Metrics Widget: From Analyze tab, when field Enable downsampling is enabled and from Charts tab, visualization Line, Area > Stack is enabled, the graphs are misleading for the newly added polling device objects.Workaround: From Analyze tab, disable field Enable downsampling for stacked line to display properly.
SDI-14140 Devices: Refreshing logout token on Device Manager page results in an authentication error and logs you out.
