Verify that Data Appears on SevOne NMS

Once the collector has been running for 15 to 20 minutes, data should appear in SevOne NMS. Perform the following steps to verify this.

  1. Log into SevOne NMS.
  2. From the navigation bar, go to Devices and select Device Manager.
  3. Look for new devices named WiFi AP:<AP Name> and WiFi Stations - mfg:<manufacturer name>.
  4. Look for new object in the devices from the two object types - wifi controller / wifi aggregation.
The WLC Collector plugin should not be disabled. The SNMP plugin can be disabled on existing WLC Devices that the Collector is polling. Also, WLC controller (as NMS device) can be unpinned out of vendor group. If no devices are left for collection, the cronjob line can be commented.

WLC Collector is an external SNMP poller that reuses device settings as configured and defined by the SNMP Plugin. Several devices are processed on single collector run. Devices are pinned in vendor specific device groups which are provided in .env files. If device does not match the expected vendor, it will be skipped.
Post Successful Installation Considerations
Please consider the following scenarios after successful collector installation and validation.
  • The transmitted and received bytes which are being polled for the station are with respect to the Access Point device it is connected to.
CAUTION
  • Do not rename devices or objects created by the Solution. By doing so, you could potentially break data collection. If a custom name is required, please use the alternative name fields.
  • Do not enable automatic DNS name resolution in your SevOne NMS cluster. This will cause NMS to rename devices based on DNS records, and break the data collection.
