TopN Heatmap

The TopN Heatmap widget provides a quick overview on most critical issues in an ACI deployment. It helps you to view the heatmap of any given object and indicator for a certain hour on a selected day. For example, you can quickly identify the most utilized interfaces across all ACI switches.

Prior to using the TopN Heatmap widget, you must connect to your SevOne NMS Appliance to:
  • Create Object Groups. For details, please refer to SevOne NMS System Administration Guide > section Object Groups.
  • Create a TopN Report with a TopN View. For details, please refer to the following section in SevOne NMS User Guide:
    • Report Attachment Wizard > TopN Source
    • TopN Reports

Data

The Data tab enables you to select the resources to graph.

TopN Heatmap Data

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Data tab.

  1. Click the Datasource drop-down and select SevOne NMS cluster or appliance.
  2. Click the Object Group drop-down and select an object group.
  3. Click the TopN View drop-down and select a view. This creates new views from your SevOne NMS appliance.
  4. Click the Sort Order drop-down and select the order you would like to display the data in. Value can be Ascending or Descending.
  5. Enter a value in Result Limit field.
    Selecting a large number may result in an increased loading time.
  6. Click the Result Aggregation Type drop-down and select a type. Value can be Average, Maximum, Minimum, or Total.
  7. Select the Use Percentage check box to display the values in percentage.
  8. Click Run to generate a TopN Heatmap report based on the configuration.
    Run button is only available when one or more fields are changed in the Data tab.
  9. In the report generated, the table provides the search and sort capability. You are seeing the color scheme based on the settings in the Charts > Visualization > Table > Color Scheme tab.

    After generating a report
    Replace Untitled Report name with an appropriate report name. For example, TopN Heatmap Report.

    Replace Untitled Section name with an appropriate name. For example, TopN Heatmap.

Analyze

The Analyze tab enables you to define the time zone and timespan.

TopN Heatmap Analyze

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Analyze tab.

  1. Click the Time zone drop-down and select the time zone.
  2. Click the Date drop-down and select one of the following options:
    1. Today - to display data from 12:00am today until now.
    2. Yesterday - to display data from 12:00am yesterday until 12:00am today.
    3. Custom - to display data for the day chosen from the calendar.

Linking

The Linking tab enables you to select a data element and link it to a related report or report template. Perform the following steps to add, delete, and edit links.

TopN Heatmap Linking

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Linking tab.

  1. Include report links allows you to include the report links that you configure. Enable to include the report link that you configure. If you want to prevent the report link from being included, disable it. Continue with the steps below to configure report link(s).
  2. Switches for individual report links are selected by default. If you wish to exclude a specific report link, disable the switch for it.
  3. Use the Clicking on drop-down to select a data item that you want to link with the report or report template. When you select a data item for a report link, that data item is no longer listed as an option for other report links as it has already been used. You can apply multiple reports/report templates to the selected data item.
  4. Click the Links to report drop-down and select one or more reports or report templates to display when you click on the data item that you specified in the previous step.
  5. To remove a report link, click Delete icon.
  6. To create additional report links, click Add report link button.

Charts

The Charts tab enables you to define how you want to display the report data.

Visualizations

The charts provide Table visualization only.

TopN Heatmap Charts

Table

The Table visualization displays the data as a table. Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for the Table visualization.

  1. Select the Table visualization by clicking Table visualization.
  2. TITLE
    1. Enable Show title to enter the title name in the text field provided and display it in report. Else, disable it.
    2. Enable Show subtitle to enter the sub-title name in the text field provided and display it in the report. Else, disable it.
  3. COLUMNS & CELLS
    1. Enable Show search bar to display search bar in the report. Else, disable it.
    2. Enable Allow column reordering to allow the columns that display in the report to be reordered.
    3. Enable Allow showing/hiding columns to allow columns in the report to be hidden and unhidden.
    4. Enable Wrap cell content to wrap long text in a data row so that all text displays. Leave clear to display as much text as fits into the cell with ellipses to indicate there is more text.
    5. Enable Abbreviate Numbers to abbreviate the values of columns available in the report.
  4. COLUMN SELECTION
    1. Select the check boxes to display the selected fields as data columns in the table. The names in the second column are the names for the columns that appear in the report. You may modify the names in the second column to your choice.
  5. AGGREGATION SETTINGS
    1. Enable the Show Aggregation type in widget option to display Aggregation Type drop-down in the report generated.
  6. COLOR SCHEME
    1. Export Color Scheme - Click to export the default color.json file to your local directory. Export exports only applied values.
    2. Import Color Scheme - Click to import your .json file from your local directory. The imported definitions are applied immediately.
    3. Choose the From / To range and assign a color to it.
    4. Click the Add Color button to choose another range.
    5. Click the Reverse Color button to reverse the color selection for ranges.
    6. Click the Apply button to apply changes made for the color ranges in the report generated.
    7. Click Reset icon to reset all colors and ranges to the last applied state.
