Network Topology

The Network Topology widget is useful for network operations and engineering to provide a network view of the SD-WAN. It also helps in troubleshooting. The topology shows devices deployed at a site including controllers and edge routers. The device can be expanded to show all the interfaces (physical ports) and its corresponding name and IP address.

Data

The Data tab enables you to select the resources to graph.

Network Topology Data

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Data tab.

  1. Click the Datasource drop-down and select the SevOne NMS cluster or appliance.
  2. Click the DeviceGroup drop-down and select the device group.
  3. Click Run to generate a Network Topology report based on the configuration.
    Note: Run button is only available when one or more fields are changed in the Data tab.
  4. In the report generated, perform the following actions:
    1. Click the Source site drop-down and select the source site.
    2. Click the Destination sites drop-down and select one or more destination sites.
    3. Click the Link Type drop-down to select the type of link.
    4. Enable Show Alerts to include alerts in the report.
    5. Hover over a Site to display site name.
    6. Hover over a Device to display device name.
    7. Hover over an Interface for the interface name.
    8. Hover over the links between Sites, Devices, and Interfaces for the Link Information.
      1. From - source node.
      2. To - destination node.

      Note: After generating a report
      Replace Untitled Report name with an appropriate report name. For example, Network Topology Report.

      Replace Untitled Section name with an appropriate name. For example, Network Topology.

Analyze

The Analyze tab enables you to define the time zone and timespan.

Network Topology Time

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Analyze tab.

  1. Click the Time zone drop-down and select a time zone.
  2. Click the Timespan drop-down and select one or more of the following options:
    • Past <n> hours, days, weeks, months, quarter, year - to display data from hours, days, weeks, months, quarter, or year ago until now.
    • Today - to display data from 12:00am today until now.
    • Yesterday - to display data from 12:00am yesterday until 12:00am today.
    • Last week, month, quarter, year - to display data from 12:00am on the first day of the last completed week, month, quarter, or year to 11:59pm on the last day of the last completed week, month, quarter, or year.
    • This week, month, quarter, year - to display data from 12:00am on the first day of the week, month, quarter, or year until now.
    • Customize the timespan with From and To date / time.

Linking

The Linking tab enables you to select a data element and link it to a related report or report template. Perform the following steps to add, delete, and edit links.

Network Topology Linking

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for Linking tab.

  1. Include report links allows you to include the report links that you configure. Enable to include the report link that you configure. If you want to prevent the report link from being included, disable it. Continue with the steps below to configure report link(s).
  2. Switches for individual report links are selected by default. If you wish to exclude a specific report link, disable the switch for it.
  3. Use the Clicking on drop-down to select a data item that you want to link with the report or report template. When you select a data item for a report link, that data item is no longer listed as an option for other report links as it has already been used. You can apply multiple reports/report templates to the selected data item.
  4. Click the Links to report drop-down and select one or more reports or report templates to display when you click on the data item that you specified in the previous step.
  5. To remove a report link, click Delete icon.
  6. If the report link has been deleted, you may click Add report link to add.

Charts

The Charts tab enables you to define how you want to display the report data.

Visualizations

The Charts provide Network visualization only.

Network Topology Charts

Network

Perform the following steps to set the widget settings for the Network visualization.

  1. Select the Network visualization by clicking Network visualization.
  2. TITLE
    1. Enable Show title to enter the title name in the text field provided and display it in report. Else, disable it.
    2. Enable Show subtitle to enter the sub-title name in the text field provided and display it in the report. Else, disable it.
  3. LABEL
    1. Select the Show Labels check box to display the labels.
    2. Choose the Position where the labels in the report should be placed.
