Viewing trace logs

Use the Trace viewer to help with error debugging.

About this task

A trace log is a type of log file that records detailed information about system events, function calls, or other activities. It helps developers and administrators identify and troubleshoot issues by providing a comprehensive view of the system's behavior during a specific period.

Procedure

  1. Select Reporting & diagnostics > Trace viewer.
    The trace logs for the last 15 minutes are displayed with a timestamp and message. You can view the logs in 15-minute intervals.
  2. Select the Edit search icon slide bars icon.
    1. Click Add filter set.
      Select one of the keys, specify an operator, and specify the value.
    2. Add another filter condition to the set.
    3. Create another filter set
  3. Modify the fetch limit.
    The default setting is 100.
  4. Specify a time range.
    • Select the Specific time range checkbox. You can specify a start time up to 24 hours ago and the end time. The end time must be later than the start time.
    • If you do not select the Specific time range checkbox, select a starting time from the Since menu.
  5. Select more information columns to display in the log view.
    Timestamp and Message are preset columns.
  6. Click Apply filter.
  7. Optional: You can refresh the log table at any time.
  8. Optional: You can download the trace logs.
