Inviting users

User invitations is a public preview that can be enabled for all identity providers except Cloud Directory and OIDC Enterprise identity providers.

Before you begin

Note: Inviting users is a requestable feature, CI-108233. To request this feature, contact your IBM Sales representative or IBM contact and indicate your interest in enabling this capability. If you have permission to create a support ticket, create a support ticket with the feature number. Note: IBM Security Verify trial subscriptions cannot create support tickets.

About this task

Note: This capability applies to federated identities only.
As an administrator you can
  • Enable or disable the invite user flow for each identity source.
  • Assign permissions to a user through Admin Roles to allow execution of the invite user flows.
  • Assign permissions to an API client to allow execution of the invite user flows.
  • View reports on audit events for user invitations and invited users
  • Specify a user profile to use as part of the invited user flow for each identity source.

Procedure

  1. Request IBM to enable the feature for your tenant.
  2. Create an identity provider.
  3. In the Add identity provider flow, select the Enable user invitations checkbox on your identity provider configuration.
  4. Use the POST/v1.0/usc/user/invitation APIs to create your invitations.
