Message identifier format
A displayed or printed message can appear by itself or with other information, such as a time stamp.
A message consists of a message identifier (ID) and message text.
The message ID is composed of the following identifiers: PPPCCNNNNS
- PPP
- Is the IBM product prefix.
- CC
- Is the 2-character component or subsystem identifier.
- NNNN
- Is the 4-digit serial number.
- S
- Is the 1-character type code indicating the severity of the message.
