Selecting a time range to display

Use the time selector to display a particular time range in time-based charts on the dashboard.

About this task

The dashboard must include at least one widget that uses a time system variable for the time selector to appear. For more information about using the time system variable in a query, see Creating widgets from a Kusto Query Language (KQL) data source, Tips for creating AQL queries for dashboard charts, or Creating widgets from a Generic API data source.

  1. Go to a dashboard that uses the time system variable.
The time selector displays in the upper right of the page.
  2. Click the time selector box and choose a time range.
Tip: The affected widgets are highlighted when you click the time selector box.
The following time ranges are available:
    • Last 5 minutes
    • Last 15 minutes
    • Last 30 minutes
    • Last 45 minutes
    • Last 60 minutes (default)
    • Last 90 minutes
    • Last 2 hours
    • Last 6 hours
    • Last 12 hours
    • Last 24 hours
    • Last 2 days
    • Last 3 days
    • Last 4 days
    • Last 7 days
The charts are updated to reflect the selected time period.

The SYSTEM time parameter is replaced with the selected time range before the query runs.
