Loading a sample database and starting the server

Load the sample database and start the directory server to add, update, and search entries.

Before you begin

Create a directory server instance. See Directory server instance creation.

About this task

You can use Configuration Tool to load LDIF data to a directory server and start the server.

Procedure

  1. To start Configuration Tool, run the following command: 
    idsxcfg -I instance_name
  2. In left navigation area, click LDIF Tasks > Import LDIF data.
  3. In the Path and LDIF file name field, specify the LDIF data file with path. You can also click Browse and specify the LDIF data file. The following default path name and LDIF data file on various operating system:
    Windows
    installation_path\examples\sample.ldif
    AIX and Solaris
    /opt/IBM/ldap/V6.3.1/examples/sample.ldif
    Linus
    /opt/ibm/ldap/V6.3.1/examples/sample.ldif
  4. Click Standard import.
  5. Click Import.
  6. To start the directory server instance, take the following actions:
    1. In the left navigation area, click Manage server state.
    2. Click Start server.
