Authorize a data provider

A data provider is a registered organization that can be authorized to upload data for your organization. Data that is uploaded by a data provider is shared and consumed in the same way as data uploaded by members of your organization. This service is designed to enable ecosystem access for IT partners that manage data for large supply chain organizations, but do not own the data that they are uploading. For example, calls to the Trace and Insights applications identify the data as owned by your organization (by Organization ID).

Adding a data provider

Users with the Organization administrator role can authorize data providers for your organization. After the data provider is authorized, any authenticated user in the data provider organization can upload data for your organization.

To get started, click Data from the side menu. Then, click the Data providers tab.

  1. Click Add data provider.
  2. Select the organization that you want to authorize from the drop-down.
Note: If you do not see the organization that you want to authorize in the drop-down, open a case with IBM Support.
  3. Click Confirm to complete the process.

Removing a data provider

Users with the Organization administrator role can remove data providers for your organization. To remove a data provider, click the delete icon ("") next to the organization you want to remove.

Data entitlement

The default data entitlement modes are applied to all data uploaded by data providers. Any data entitlement override of the default data entitlement modes, by API call, also applies to the data. Because the uploaded data is owned by the member organization, and not the data provider, the data provider has access to only the data it has uploaded. Linked entitlement is not created for data providers.

Data uploads

To facilitate automation, data providers can use the Connector API to upload data, specifying the organization ID that they are uploading data for in the IFT-On-Behalf-Of-Org header. The organization ID (orgId) value can be found by using the GET organizations API call (/ift/api/organizations/api-docs/?urls.primaryName=v1#/Organizations/get_organizations).

GDPR notice

To comply with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) data privacy requirements, no personal data can be uploaded to Transparent Supply, such as in any free-form text fields or comments.
