About IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition 10.1

IBM® Spectrum LSF® Community Edition 10.1 is available with IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition 4.2.2 as a single ISO package. The IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition 10.1 ISO package sets up your physical environment using the capabilities of IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition. Once your environment is set up, you can use the IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition Web Portal to deploy your IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition cluster.

IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition 10.1 is installed on the LSF master host which is also known as the IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition management node. The IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition 10.1 installer uses the capabilities of IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition to set up and configure your private and public networks, enable your firewall, enable a BMC network, specify your hardware settings, and specify other system information. After installation, you have the full set of IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition capabilities to add and provision compute nodes, enable LDAP authentication for easier user management, or create templates to better manage your environment settings.

After running the IBM Spectrum LSF Community Edition 10.1 installer and completing the installation, you have access to the IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition Web Portal. The IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition Web Portal is a central user interface that delivers a comprehensive set of functions to help manage hardware and software at the infrastructure level. System administrators can manage their cluster infrastructure as a single system with the flexibility to automate deployment of software components. From the Web Portal, you are able to create your LSF cluster. The IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition Web Portal includes a LSF Community cluster template that specifies your LSF cluster settings.

The LSF Community cluster template deploys a cluster that includes the following software:
  • IBM Spectrum LSF Express 10.1
  • IBM Spectrum LSF Application Center Basic 10.1
  • IBM Platform MPI Community Edition 9.1.2

Other considerations to consider when deploying your LSF cluster is that only one LSF cluster can be deployed with IBM Spectrum Cluster Foundation Community Edition 4.2.2.

Additionally, if you want to enable high availability, you must enable high available during installation and before creating the LSF cluster.
