Snapshots
A volume group snapshot is a consistent point-in-time copy of a volume group or a set of volumes.
A volume group snapshot can be used to restore the parent volume group or a subset of the parent volumes of the snapshot, or to create clones of the snapshot.
Snapshots can be added to a volume group using the management GUI interface or crash consistent snapshots can be scheduled for a volume group by adding a snapshot policy to the volume group. This policy can be safeguarded, in which case the snapshots added are safeguarded.
These operations can also be performed using the command-line interface, which in addition can add snapshots to a list of volumes rather than a volume group.
