1043 Enclosure VPD is Unavailable

Explanation

This error occurs when there is a problem with a node or node canister and the enclosure identity cannot be read.

User response

Complete the following steps to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check any errors that are reported on the other node in the enclosure (the partner node).
  2. If the partner node is reporting the same error, follow the hardware remove and replace procedure to replace the enclosure midplane.
  3. If the partner node is not reporting the same error, follow the hardware remove and replace procedure to replace the node or node canister that is reporting the error.
Note: If a newly installed system reports the error on both nodes, the data that must be written to the enclosure is not available. Contact IBM® Support Center for the worldwide node names (WWNNs) to use.
Remember: Review the output of the lsservicenodes command for a list of all the nodes that can be serviced by using the service assistant CLI.

  • Node canister (50%)
  • Enclosure midplane (50%)
