Find the status of the SAS connections between canisters in different
enclosures.

Ensure that the software is active on the node before you begin this procedure.
Procedure
Determine the state of the SAS ports by using one of the following methods:

In the management GUI, select to .

On the System - Overview page, select SAS Chain
View to display the SAS ports. SAS ports that are not connected are displayed as
offline.
- It is normal for port 2 of the canisters in the expansion enclosure at the end of a SAS chain to
be offline.
- If no expansion enclosures are connected to a system, it is normal for port 4 of each canister
in the control enclosure to be offline.
Attention: The system can identify some SAS cabling errors and log an event to alert you
to the error. Go to the page of the management GUI and identify alerts concerning hardware errors and SAS
cabling errors. Run fix procedures in the recommended order.

To connect a link that is not connected, complete the following actions while checking the link
status after each step until the link is connected:

Ensure that both ends of each SAS cable are correctly inserted into their correct ports, as
described in Problem: SAS cabling not valid.

Replace the expansion enclosure at one end of the connection.

Replace the node canister at the other end of the connection.
