Adding a node to a system using the service assistant

The service assistant is a web application that can be used to troubleshoot nodes on your system. If a node goes offline, you can use the service assistant to add the node back into the system after any repair actions are completed.

Before you begin

A node that has been removed from a system is automatically re-added when the node is in candidate state. No separate add action is required.

About this task

If a node is in service state, follow the appropriate service procedures to resolve a node error 578 or a node error 690. For all other node errors, follow the appropriate service procedures. Complete the following steps to release a node from service state:

Procedure

  1. From the Service Assistant Home page, select the node that is in service state.
  2. From the available actions, click Exit service state.

The node is added as soon as it is available.

What to do next

To validate that the node was added successfully, complete the following steps:
  1. In the management GUI, select Monitor > System.
  2. Select the canister to which the node was added.
  3. Verify that the node was added.
