Event log messages
IBM® Safer Payments provides over 600 event log messages.
Each of event log message can be enabled and disabled for the following log files:
- IBM Safer Payments system log
- IBM Safer Payments audit log
- Operating system log
- Console output
Default settings for each event log message are defined in

Each log message provides a description and instructions to the administrator, if applicable. The PCI DSS mandated setting determines whether an event log message is needed to meet PCI DSS requirements.
Each log message is assigned to a log level. The log levels are:
- D
- Debug information only. They do not have to be enabled in normal production environments.
- I
- Informational log messages, such as golive initiated and golive successfully executed.
- W
- Warnings. Investigate warnings to avoid issues with the system.
- E
- Errors. If you cannot resolve errors, contact IBM Support.
- F
- Fatal errors. Contact IBM Support.
Monitor log messages with E, F, and W. Follow the instructions in the log messages. Contact IBM Support if necessary.
Remarks
- The log level of each event log message can be customized. Customize a message if a warning appears frequently but it does not indicate a potential risk to the system.
- Each IBM Safer Payments instance creates its own log files. Therefore, log files on each instance need to be monitored.
