Troubleshooting the IBM RPA on premises edition installation

Learn how to isolate and solve problems during the IBM RPA on premises edition installation.

• Empty certificate list during the installation process
  The installation wizard does not display any certificates for your choice. This problem is because you don't have a certificate installed on your machine.

• Changing the storage directory path doesn't move the files
  You changed the storage directory path but the files didn't move to the new directory. You must move the files manually.

• A service is not responding
  A service entered a failed state. You need to restart the service.

• The connection to the IBM RPA Control Center appears as not private
  The browser does not recognize the certificate. This problem can occur when you use self-signed certificates.

• The email server configuration is correct, but the server is not sending emails
  The settings are correct, but the server doesn't send any emails. This problem can be due to a lack of connection between the IBM RPA server and the email service or a lack of connection permissions.

• I can't see which ports are available for connection
  You must use the NETSTAT service to see the active ports.

• IBM RPA Control Center does not start
  It may occur due to lack of access by the server to the database or the lack of the IIS URL Rewrite 2.1 resource.

• There was an error during the Windows resource configuration process
  It can occur when trying to activate MSMQ.

• ERR_CERT_COMMON_NAME_INVALID when you browse to the IBM RPA Control Center or other related URLs
  Generate the self-signed certificates with SANs for each URL that you use for IBM RPA.

• Installer cannot enable Windows features
  You installed IBM RPA on premises server-side or client-side and an error occurred at the Windows™ features configuration process. Your system user must have permission to manage Microsoft Message Queue (MSMQ) Active Directory Domain Services Integration features on Windows™ Features.

• Changing expired certificate

• Error when stopping services during server upgrade
  You try to upgrade the server, but the installer is unable to stop the server services automatically.
