Recording terminal applications

Record mainframe-based applications or terminal-based applications with the IBM RPA terminal emulator. Use it to record screen data such as characters, fields, and keystrokes based on the actions that you take on it, or inspect fields on the terminal emulator screen to get their properties.

• Starting the terminal recorder
  Learn how to start the terminal recorder in IBM RPA Studio. The recorder supports connections over 3270 protocol with the IBM RPA internal provider, and over 3270 and 5250 protocols with IBM® Personal Communications provider, and the HLLAPI standard. It doesn't support connections to VT emulator over SSH or Telnet protocols. For more information, see Connecting by using SSH and Connecting by using Telnet.

• Connecting to the terminal emulator
  Learn how to connect to the terminal emulator by using the HLLAPI standard, the IBM® Personal Communications or the IBM RPA IBM RPA internal provider. You can also connect to VT emulator over Telnet or SSH protocols.

• Recording actions on the terminal emulator
  Use the recorder to record screen data from the terminal emulator based on the actions you take on it, and automatically add as equivalent commands to your script.

• Inspecting fields with the recorder
  Use the recorder to inspect fields on the terminal emulator screen to get their properties.
