Connecting to the terminal emulator
Use the supported providers to connect to mainframe-based applications or terminal-based applications through the terminal emulator. You can connect to applications built for zSeries mainframes over the 3270 protocol, and for System i5®, eServer i5®, iSeries, or AS/400 systems over the 5250 protocol, or connect to Virtual Terminal (VT) emulator over SSH and Telnet protocols.

IBM RPA internal provider
Connect to the terminal emulator with the IBM RPA internal provider. This provider is the IBM RPA default provider that you can use to connect to host sessions through 3270 protocol by using either the recorder or specific command. -
Connecting by using IBM® Personal Communications
Connect to the terminal emulator by using the IBM® Personal Communications provider. In IBM RPA, you can use this provider to launch and connect to zSeries mainframe-based applications over the 3270 protocol, and for System i5®, eServer i5®, iSeries, or AS/400 systems over the 5250 protocol. -
Connecting by using HLLAPI
Connect to the terminal emulator with terminal emulator providers that implement the High-level Language Application Program Interface (HLLAPI) standard. In IBM RPA, you can use these providers to connect to zSeries mainframe-based applications over the 3270 protocol, and for System i5®, eServer i5®, iSeries, or AS/400 systems over the 5250 protocol. -

Connect to Virtual Terminal (VT) emulator over SSH protocol by using specific command. The VT emulator interprets ANSI escape codes. -
