Check spelling

You can check the spelling of labels, names, and textual descriptions in a project.

You can use the spell checker included in Rational® Rhapsody® to verify and correct common spelling mistakes. You can check the spelling of labels, names, and other textual descriptions in a project. Spell check supports the use of American and British English dictionaries. To disable spell checking, clear the General::Model::CheckSpelling property. You can run the Rational Rhapsody spell checker on the entire model, the description of specific elements, or on a selected element within your project.

Running spell check in a project

You can run the spell check feature on the entire project and on selected elements in the Rational Rhapsody browser.

Before you begin

Specify which dictionary (American or British English) you want to use. In the rhapsody.ini file, under SpellChecking, change the language entry to either en-US (American) or en-GB (British).

Procedure

Run spell check on the entire project, or an element within the model. Complete one of following sub steps.
  • From the main menu, select Tools > Spell Check > Entire Project.
  • In the Rational Rhapsody browser, select the elements that you want to check. Then, from the main menu, select Tools > Spell Check > Selected Elements.

Results

The results of the check are shown as warnings in the Check Model tab of the Output window. Double-click an element to open the Description tab of the Features window. Then, right-click a term and then select Spelling. A list of suggested terms is shown.

Running spell check on an element description

You can run spell check on text contained in the Description tab of the Features window.

Before you begin

Procedure

  1. In the Rational Rhapsody, right-click the element.
  2. Select the Description tab.
  3. Enter a description for the element.
  4. Click Apply.

Results

Incorrect terms are underscored in the Description field. To correct misspellings, right-click a term and then select Spelling. Choose an item from the list of suggestions.
