Hardware and software requirements

Verify that your hardware and software meet or exceed the minimum requirements. If your hardware and software do not meet the minimum requirements, you might be unable to install or run the product.

Before you can install the product, verify that your system meets the minimum requirements. For an up-to-date list of minimum requirements, go to this web page: https://www.ibm.com/software/reports/compatibility/clarity/index.html

Some components will need additional program temporary fixes (PTFs). To find information about any required server PTFs:
  1. Open the Remote System Explorer perspective if it is not already open. The name of the current perspective is shown in the top left corner of the title bar for the Window. To open the Remote System Explorer perspective select Window > Open Perspective > Other and select Remote System Explorer from the list.
  2. Create a connection to your IBM® i by expanding New Connection and double-clicking on IBM i.
  3. Expand your new connection and right click on IBM i Objects. Select Verify Connection from the menu. This displays a dialog that shows which required PTFs are already installed on the system and which ones are missing.

To compile RPG, COBOL, C, C++, CL, or DDS on the IBM i using the Remote System Explorer (RSE), the compilers must be installed.

For OS X, the legacy Java 6 runtime is required. For installation information, see https://support.apple.com/kb/dl1572.
