Planning the installation

or update any of the product features. Effective planning and an understanding
of the key aspects of the installation process can help ensure a successful

Starting IBM Rational Developer for i V9.6
You can start IBM Rational® Developer
for i V9.6 from
the desktop environment or a command-line interface. For Windows, click Start > All Programs > IBM Software Delivery
Platform > IBM Rational
Developer for i V9.6.
Activating your product
Licensing for your installed IBM software
and customized packages is administered using the Manage Licenses wizard in
the IBM Installation Manager. The Manage
Licenses wizard displays license information for each of your installed packages.
Modifying installed product packages
The Modify wizard in the IBM Installation
Manager enables you to change the language and feature selections
of an installed product package.
Reverting updates to previous versions
You can remove an update to some packages to revert to
a previous version by using the Roll back Packages wizard of IBM Installation Manager.IBM Rational Developer
for i V9.6 does
not support rollback.
Uninstalling product packages
The Uninstall option in the IBM Installation
Manager enables you to uninstall packages from a single installation
location. You can also uninstall all the installed packages from every
installation location.
Install help content locally to your computer
The default remote help configuration accesses content
from the internet dynamically. With remote help, you always have the
latest content available from within the product. If you want the
help to be available when you are disconnected from the internet,
you can install the content locally.
